  • Machine vision camera guides press to stop when distance is reached
  • Dozens of configurations, little to no changeover required

Impetus to Invent

It all started here. Our very first machine at Invent Automation. They wanted a precision press guided by a camera and we didn’t want to get a real job. A match made in heaven. A servo, innovative camera system to stop the press when the gap was reached and a desire to win and the rest was history. Now every water heater in America has a little bit of Invent Automation associated with it and we couldn’t be happier.

Problem Solved

This press had to stop when the gap, as read by the machine vison camera, told it to stop.
Dozens of parts with little to no changeover was required

Lessons Learned

We had not anticipated the cost of shipping the machine. Oops!

What Was Unique

Smart cameras were not so smart back then so we had to do this one with a PC and OpenCV programming language.

What Was Challenging

An innovative cradle was designed to hold all part numbers for the nipple.
