At a Glance

  • Two presses for twice the throughput
  • Clicker press distributes the load evenly
  • Specialized hydraulic power generator for fast and slow power strokes

Impetus to Invent

What do you do when your old clicker die is dying, and you need four times as much throughput? Invent Automation designed and built one of our heaviest projects to date, times two! It didn’t just stop with the press; it also included slitting carpet, separating it into two lanes, and feeding it through the system using an innovative web handling method.

Problem Solved

Steel rule dies impart uneven loads, so a simple press would not suffice. How do you solve this? Enter Invent Automation's unique four-bar linkage, which distributes the load evenly across all four corners of the hydraulic cylinders.

Lessons Learned

Size is its own unique property! You have to be ready to move a 50,000 lb press and all its large components. Having great partners like JF Superior makes it all the easier.

What Was Unique

The high-performance, servo-controlled hydraulic power unit, combined with the unique four-bar linkage, made for a truly unique press.

What Was Challenging

The finite element analysis was a critical part of the project that really helped keep the weight down. There was a real trade-off between weight and strength, so we had to get this right!
